Diseases related to intestinal inflammation are increasingly prevalent in our society. Conditions such as ulcerative colitis can be caused by both internal factors, such as genetic disorders or immune reactions, and external factors, such as diet or stress. These intestinal pathologies significantly affect our daily quality of life and can pose future problems that represent a serious risk to our health over the years.
At Deretil Nature, together with a project developed by the CIDAF technology center in Spain, we aim to highlight the potential of olive-derived active ingredients for the prevention, improvement, and treatment of these inflammatory diseases. It has been shown that the consumption of olive polyphenols and triterpenes significantly improves inflammatory conditions by controlling the production of pro-inflammatory factors that trigger the inflammatory reactions responsible for the mentioned diseases.
Specifically, at Deretil, we produce an active ingredient, Maslinic Acid, which has proven effective as an anti-inflammatory triterpene. This active ingredient, extracted from the olive fruit, has the ability to inhibit the enzyme COX-2, which converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins that initiate the inflammatory response in the gut. By eliminating its presence in the body, we prevent inflammation.
Maslinic Acid not only inhibits COX-2 but also other pro-inflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), which directly participates in the inflammatory process along with interleukin IL-6. This is supported not only by the study conducted in Spain with CIDAF but also by numerous in vivo and in vitro studies demonstrating the effectiveness of Maslinic Acid.
We present our active ingredient in powder form, with a purity of up to 75% triterpenes, of which at least 60% is Maslinic Acid and the remaining 15% is Oleanolic Acid. These compounds create a synergy that enhances their bioavailability.
